MAYNARD MASTER MAYNARD, MA

This 1,050-square-foot home’s compact spaces left a lot to be desired. With one bathroom servicing the entire house and a number of compartmentalized rooms, a new addition and reorganization of the existing program ventured to relieve many of these issues. To keep the addition from distracting from the home's original charm, a dormered, carriage house design was created over the existing garage and expanded out to the backyard. The new living-room -- which was originally the master bedroom -- now boasts a vaulted ceiling, a pair of built in bookcases with seated storage and elongated divided light windows that invites light and unobstructed views of the backyard.

For the master suite, an almost private wing was created; a bedroom, walk-in closet and bathroom are closely positioned yet independently accessible, allowing each room to be unencumbered by double-duty. The walk-in closet allows enough storage space for both owners and is conveniently sistered to the master bathroom. The expansive bathroom receives natural north light from two large windows, keeping the space light and airy.

The second floor gained a new bathroom, bedroom and sitting area, creating a gracious guest room for family & friends.
